🍸 New Alcohol Permit Law Reshapes Kissimmee’s Nightlife Scene
KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A new ordinance officially went into effect Wednesday, requiring downtown Kissimmee businesses to obtain a special permit to serve alcohol past midnight. Without it, last call is now set at 12:00 a.m., a shift that has stirred both support and concern among residents and business owners.
The Kissimmee City Commission unanimously approved the measure in July with a 5-0 vote, enacting Ordinance #25-09. The regulation mandates that restaurants, bars, microbreweries, and tasting rooms must apply for an After-Midnight Alcohol Sales Permit—priced at $250—to continue serving alcohol until 2 a.m. The permit also grants the Kissimmee Police Chief authority to suspend it in the event of safety concerns or incidents.
Carlos Diaz, a Kissimmee resident for 25 years, expressed support: “I do not see anything wrong with the regulation.” Jacqueline Centeno, another local resident, offered a more nuanced view: “Downtown is growing and becoming more of a tourist attraction in Central Florida. I believe some control is needed and Mayor Espinosa and the commission are taking the right approach, but there needs to be a balance. Some businesses are struggling due to the U.S. economy and need consideration too.”

The Vine Street CRA, established in 2012, spans 1,333 acres along the US 192 corridor, encompassing 1,064 acres of non-residential land and over 6 million square feet of commercial space—with the potential to grow beyond 250 million square feet. This historic stretch, flanked by Shingle Creek and Lake Tohopekaliga, offers scenic views and natural charm, inviting residents and visitors alike to “venture vine” and explore its development opportunities.
The CRA’s boundaries extend a quarter-mile north and south of Vine Street (HW 192), from North Bass Road to Denn John Lane. Within this footprint lie key destinations such as Shingle Creek Regional Park, major commercial centers, the Kissimmee Medical Arts District, and Valencia College.

Un ambiente de unión comunitaria se vivió en The Cube, ubicado en el 120 de Broadway en el centro de Kissimmee, durante el evento especial Bingo en The Cube. Patrocinado por Matador Restaurant, The Cube y PHCA Medical Group, y con la invitación personal de la alcaldesa de Kissimmee, Jackie Espinosa, el evento tuvo como objetivo fomentar el compañerismo y la creación de redes entre los residentes.
La alcaldesa Espinosa asistió al evento junto al jefe de policía de Kissimmee, Charles “Chuck” Broadway, y expresó su entusiasmo por iniciativas que fortalecen los lazos comunitarios. “Apoyo este tipo de eventos donde la comunidad puede reunirse, disfrutar y establecer conexiones significativas—especialmente nuestros ciudadanos retirados, veteranos y personas de la tercera edad,” comentó a LatinOsceola News.
